Physics is about studying how the universe works, and since you're in it, it's really about understanding you and the world you live in. Hopefully you'll find this very interesting! Seek to improve your learning by polishing each portfolio objective, each online text assignment, and then by noticing physics in your life!

May the Force (of gravity) be with you

So - when things fall around here (like apples) they accelerate at 9.8 m/s/s.  Since they're accelerating, the forces must be unbalanced - so maybe we should measure this unbalanced Force we like to call Gravity.  What is the strength of this gravitational force here in our room?

As a group, use a Force sensor (don't break it by pulling too hard) to measure different forces on different objects - what about these objects do you think is important to measure?  (WRITE IT ON YOUR WALLBOARD)

  • Logger Pro - Experiment - Connect Interface - Wireless (hook up to your WDSS!!!)
  • You may want to Zero it out (calibrate) -can you figure out how?

Set up a data table in Logger Pro with your independent variable and dependent variable, get enough data to see a relationship, and make a CLAIM about what you think the relationship between these variables is.

Now check CANVAS for your group C-B-A contract - you will need to make decisions about how to demonstrate how well you know this material (and along the way, you'll need to determine how well you really understand what you're talking about - metacognition isn't easy, but it's very useful!)

Phinished?
Cool, start your mastery project on v-t graphs (yeah, we need more practice) by doing World 3 of the universe and more.  This will be an individual submission of a document with a screenshot and whiteboards using the ONE PAGE method (check CANVAS for details)  Here's a free-bee example of World 3-1 using that cool live-scribe pen (see a few posts lower if you want to get one for yourself!)

Phinished with that too?
Bring up your grade on another assignment! (You already have straight A's?  Then do whatever you think would be appropriate now, since you are so awesome!)
