Physics is about studying how the universe works, and since you're in it, it's really about understanding you and the world you live in. Hopefully you'll find this very interesting! Seek to improve your learning by polishing each portfolio objective, each online text assignment, and then by noticing physics in your life!

136-137-138 Hitting the Target

Click here for the handouts

136 - Projectiles - The VERTICAL part
137 - Projectiles - The HORIZONTAL part
138 - Projectiles - the reality part - show your measurement(s) and calculations, and let us know if you hit the target!!!  (and was the target blindfolded???)

First - how long was the projectile in the air?
So what was the time going up?
How much did the velocity change each second?
So how fast must it have been going at launch to go up for that long?
-->That's the initial velocity
Now what angle will you launch it at?
What is the new vertical velocity?
How long will it travel "up" now?
How long will it fly now (up and down)?
-->That's the new flight time
How fast was it going sideways?
How far did it displace horizontally during the flight time?
-->That's the range
bonus - how can you determine the maximum height of your rocket?
